- What is love these days? I’m sure you guys see all the Valentine’s Day decorations in the stores all around you. There are hearts, cupids, roses, chocolates, teddy bears, and so on. Ifyou’d like to buy this or other paintings go to my website www.valsartdiary.com TIPS FOR ARTISTS! Click on the link below for tips on creating art but also promoting and selling it on the internet. I also have a 16 minute long video in which I talk about my journey to becoming a full-time artist. Check it out! http I feel that all these symbols are great REMINDERS of the holiday and reminders of love but they don’t really evoke the FEELING of love in me. You know that sinking feeling in your stomach or your heart.

THE small people down under used cross hatching 4 3d effects 9000 years before others, HOW is this over looked by most people. even snoopy had 3 toes ,yet this is not shown in Egyptian drawings

  2. natskiman says:

ART IS the documentation of the inner creative spirit that IS LIFE , no P H D .

  3. pluskvam says:

bennyhilg: Certainly that is art. If it is good or not is another question. Much of that which is admired today was in the beginning called garbage.

  4. bennyhilg says:

visit video of FILIPINO ARTIST MEDEO CRUZ. he bashes catholics church..he put condom and penis in christ picture with face of mickey mouse..is this what we call an art?..he says, its freedom of expression.. i think, its a garbage.. art is passion..

  5. PkrBarMovie says:

to describe art is very easy: audio, visual or audiovisual product or process that incorporates: emotions, truth about life, beauty in life, thoughts or moods/atmosphere. Here you go! That is art!

  6. pluskvam says:

It is a myth that art escapes from logic. An illusion is very logical. You might not like contemporary art but it is a fact that it rules.

  7. CanalTal says:

What matters is not what is art, because art always escapes from logic. What matters is to know what is GOOD art and stop worshipping contemporary CRAP and call it “evolution”.

  8. smutery says:

very nice masterpieces, very enjoyable ,feel free to come to my cannel for my new vid on “what is art”

  9. pluskvam says:

The idea of genius was slowly created through the 18th century. In the cave time people could paint without having there work suddenly turned into art. Now it is difficult to make a painting avoiding art. “Something more, something deeper, something spiritual – art will give you all this” (add for the German Philosophers.

  10. rahxun says:

I think the first artist is either one of Renaissance geniuses or the guy who paint on the cave wall in Altamira. btw, that guy doesn’t look like Kant at all.

  11. zholyrebel says:

anything that puts your emotions into a physical form others can see, like a carving, a painting, or even a dance, or a sound they can hear like music. any way you wish to express yourself and whatever form you wish to put it in. but only the artist really knows how to interpret it.

  12. jdbohdan says:

Seems presumptious to think art started with Kant, or others which seems to imply art started only when people discussed it or criticized it. I believe this to be faulty and revealing a bias of a mind already influenced by the western academic philosophy and teaching of art.
It also suggests the more disturbing concept today which is equally faulty in that criticism and judgement by some outside authority to art somehow plays an important role in its definition, also wrong.

  13. jdbohdan says:

    @pluskvam “

  14. KyleLiggett says:

    Life is art

  15. pluskvam says:

Plato was long before the modern idea of art. As he is presented he has been made into a part of this modern idea.

  16. AtomicUprising says:

this is laughable what about plato

  17. Oscar301 says:

Nowadays the measure is: if it’s an absolute piece of shit that no right-thinking person would consider has any remedial value whatsoever, it’s invariably “art”

  18. bahramf says:

@bahramf Oh, you slipped Schopenhauer in there.

You don’t define what artist is in the modern sense. There are hundreds of different definition and you’ve chosen the dumbest one, which by your own admission, does not count davinci as an artist.

  19. bahramf says:

You skipped Schopenhauer, and all the ancients somehow. You’re just completely clueless about art, aren’t you?

  20. bahramf says:

@pluskvam That’s not true at all. No artist or art-world I know of even knows he wrote the Critique of judgment and they’re better off for their ignorance. His idea of a special sphere of human experience from which art is (not enjoyed) but contemplated, whoected fromlly disconnected from anything of any matter to life or the world is a burden aesthetics philosophers have been shaking off since Kant.

Also, he was quite mad when he wrote the Critique of Judgment.

  21. pluskvam says:

Dear variable2102. We are all free to speculate about what art can or should be, but to make any sense a speculation must be confirmed by the artworld or at least describe how this world is acting.

  22. variable2102 says:

We try understanding each other, so we communicate with each other. Again, we’re all individuals, so we have different pereceptions of reality, so we must communicate in order to co-exist, which is why art is the most important part of our lives.

…Though this is all an opinion; I just wanted to try explaining what I think art is, but I wanna know what you all think.

  23. variable2102 says:

The above mention ways of articulating (speech, hands motions, ect.) constitute as mediums, like paper or film or music or whatever. For instance, I’ll write down what I’m thinking onto a piece of paper, so you can understand what I’m thinking. That paper is what I’m transposing my thoughts onto, thus it’s a medium; a medium is ANYTHING I can express my thoughts through.

  24. variable2102 says:

We’re all individuals, of course, and our individual thoughts are trapped in our heads, so we use art to transpose those thoughts to the minds of others (to say I’m happy to you, a reaction of the mind, I’ll simply communicate/articulate to you that I’m happy, so you’ll know it; I’ll be smiling and my tone will be what you’d expect from somebody who’s happy).

  25. variable2102 says:

    (Part one of many comments)
Think of it like this: Art is the shortened version of articulation, which means communicating. Art is the communicating of ideas. This text your reading is art, if I were speaking to you directly, that’d be art, my body motions are arts, because all of these things convey a meaning/idea. My tone of voice communicates how I’m feeling; so does my way of walking and how I alter my physical appearance. Art is all around us, all of the time. We’re all artists.

thats what i was thinking, i’m using oil right now, and i’m using a dryer and it is still very difficult, depending on what your painting. she is very good, i need to save up my money to buy the high quality paints…they are quite exprinsive..

  34. suzannahrobertson78 says:

acrylic. I’m pretty sure, she paints over stuff too much to be oil… i guess, unless she uses additives like liquin and/or cobalt dryer or something… but it’s most likely acrylic and acrylic mediums.

  38. omgoneleven says:

Wow… I just found your channel here (through your quiz one, which appeared on my YouTube homepage) and I HAD to subscribe.

My reasons? Not only are you a wonderful artist who really puts her heart into her work, but you also come off as such a genuine and very real person. I haven’t painted for quite some time, as I seemed to have lost some of my passion for drawing and painting along the way… but this video brought tears to my eyes and has inspired me to pick up the paintbrush again. : ]

  39. Nauticalad says:

I am revisting this video – I have this as a wall paper on one of my computers. I love understanding the meaning – i love telling it to anyone who asks me about the painting. Love you work Val.
